We take great pride in our close collaboration with Dr. Jon Grant from the University of Chicago. Together, we are dedicated to advancing his research and pioneering studies aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of Trichotillomania and its underlying causes. Additionally, we are actively exploring more efficient methods to provide support and treatment to individuals affected by this condition.
Jon E. Grant, JD, MD, is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Chicago Medicine. As the author of over 400 peer-reviewed scientific articles and nine books, Dr. Grant has a strong track record of uncovering new knowledge about psychiatric conditions and treatments through research.
With philanthropic support, Dr. Grant can launch novel investigations on trichotillomania to better understand the causes, which can potentially inform preventions and more effective treatments. This knowledge could possibly have life-changing effects on the lives patients and families afflicted by trichotillomania.
While it is known in the scientific community that inflammatory and autoimmune issues correlate with mental health disorders, it is still unknown whether these conditions impact trichotillomania specifically.
Charitable donations allow Dr. Grant to conduct a preliminary study at the intersection of trichotillomania and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. If the results show a significant volume of patients with both trichotillomania and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, like celiac disease, larger scale studies could be launched. For example, markers in the blood could be assessed, making it easier to identify who is at risk of developing trichotillomania, and immune modulating drugs could be tested to see if they stop or reduce trichotillomania symptoms. Each phase of this research informs the next scientific study. Philanthropic donations make a difference at every stage of the work, speeding the timeline for more answers about trichotillomania.
Please consider joining us in supporting Dr. Grant’s trichotillomania research with a gift at any level.
